R. Wayne Martin, a thirty-five year veteran of the music industry, began his career as a marketing specialist representing artists signed to Warner Bros. Records, CBS Records and Sony Music. Following a distinguished marketing career inside the major labels, as a senior management executive Martin expanded market share for two of America’s most celebrated independent label groups, Shanachie Entertainment and Knitting Factory Records. Martin went on to operate as an international music industry consultant, create and teach three courses as a professor of music marketing at New York University, and then following his appointment as an executive inside the National Music Publisher’s Assocation’s licensing revenue entity, the Harry Fox Agency, co-manage a dramatic reorganization while maintaining successful relationships with the agency’s 27,000 music industry clients. Also a guest speaker and panelist at many entertainment industry conferences, he has been interviewed as a music industry expert in business print such as the Wall Street Journal Europe, consumer press such as the Chicago Tribune, and industry trades such as Billboard magazine. More recently, Martin has been a trustee for a children's non-profit organization and acted as interim CEO for an upstart music publishing company. He is the founder and principal of mthree, a management and strategic career development company for musicians and other creators throughout North America and Europe (http://www.mthree.online formerly known as Martin Artist Management).
